amazing Weekend of Jesus encounters we had at Jara. To Jesus be
all the glory!
a Community located in Jos East, Plateau State, Nigeria. It is
obviously one of the least developed areas on the Plateau with
its neighbouring communities. No electricity, extremely bad
roads, no GSM network and little water. The people major on
farming especially during the rainy season. They produce major
indigenous crops which are sent to other parts of the Plateau.
However, this people seem to be greatly neglected in many ways.
But the Lord knows them and has them in His grand agenda for all
sent us to the people of Jara with a specific Word found in
2Corinthians 6:2 “For He
says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of
salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time;
behold, now is the day of salvation.”
(NKJV). As we prepared for this event, the team took time to
pray and declare these words extensively over the precious
people of Jara. The more we declared it the more expectation was
building in our hearts for what the Lord was set to do in the
land of Jara. Our mission to Jara was two-fold: A Gospel
Campaign on Saturday and A Believers’ Meeting on Sunday.
Saturday, after the set up for the Gospel Campaign, just about
when we started the event, the rain came pouring down. At first,
it appeared as though we wouldn’t hold the event as planned
since it was meant to be an outdoor event, but the Lord gave us
the courage to hold our ground and press on with the plan and,
as usual, what was meant to be a setback only became a setup for
a greater harvest. Instead of the people leaving for their homes
we had more people coming to the venue such that at the time of
the Gospel presentation the entire area of the crusade was
packed with people both sitting and standing. We had the
attention of the entire community as our sound system was also
positioned to reach even those who were not at the venue of the
event. It was hard to explain what was happening. We only knew
it was the Lord’s doing!
shared the Word from the Lord to the people (2Corinthians 6:2).
He emphasized the fact that NOW is God’s accepted time and NOW
is the day of salvation for the people. And that the Lord has
heard them and has come to help them. Explaining the
difference between NOW and TODAY, he said, years ago, when
Zacchaeus encountered Jesus, Jesus said to him: “TODAY
salvation has come to this house…”
(Luke 19:9) because He had not yet gone to the cross. That was
simply a promise. But having gone to the cross and paid the
price for man’s redemption, today He says: “…behold,
NOW is the day of salvation.”
(2Cor.6:2). Not just TODAY but NOW! The people received the Word
with so much joy. When the call to Salvation was made, it was as
though everyone was making the decision to be saved. We ran out
of our New Converts’ Forms and had to quickly find a way to take
the data of everyone making the decision. Then we ministered to
the sick and oppressed and there were manifested healings.
Praise God! We had a moment of rejoicing and dancing in praise
to the Lord for all He has done. Glory to God!
Sunday, our Believer’s Meeting was merged with the Sunday
Service of the supporting Church in Jara. This is the first time
we’re doing it in this fashion being the most effective way in
this place. David shared on Serving God’s Purpose for Your
Life in Your Life Time. Taking his text from Philippians
3:12-14, he encouraged the people to prayerfully discover WHY
the Lord has created them and to actively press into it in order
to fulfill it in their life time. More people got saved, we had
a time of prayer as we also prayed for the prayer requests of
the people. The Reverend of the Church, who was so happy and
excited about what the Lord has done these two days informed us
of his plan to organize another of such event and have us back
to Jara. Many other doors of ministry were open to us during
this event. Praise God!
it was said concerning Samaria when Philip visited there in Acts
8, there was “joy in the city” as we left Jara after these
moments of Jesus encounters! We enjoyed the Lord’s favour in
many ways during this adventurous and impactful event. A big
THANKS to the Team and everyone who went with us through
their prayer and support. May the Lord of the harvest bless you
richly in every way and greatly exceed your expectation in the
Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
